As Instagram gets more and more important in publishing any musical stuff, I'm not so good in caring for my blog anymore. On Instagram you find me as "karlausderkiste". For now, a small update-pic of my board:
I'm not a band, I'm not a solo artist. But I can support both, best with electric guitars. My name is Karl and I love lulling, atmospheric guitars in music.

Many things going on...
As both a daddy of three wonderful kids and a passionate musician there are many things going on. In the past I mainly focused on band work... and I even had much more time to blog. Anyway - I'm still on lulling sounds fire recreating my pedal board after having played for a few years with a Line6 M13.
Why did I change my setup?
Well, I came to the conclusion that in the fast moving digital age for me it is the best to concentrate on a classical pedalboard again. This gives me the opportunity to change certain pedals whenever I'd like to. Back to the roots somehow.
I'm stoked to present my rearranged pedalboard. I can plug in two electrics at the same time using the Lehle Split to select either the Les Paul or the Strat. The Strats signal gets pushed by the MXR MC401 to reach the same output as the LP.
The SansAmp DI-Out is my way to use the board with an acoustic guitar with Piezo System. Sounds way better.

The Cabinet
Having a family with almost three kids, working in two different places and having moved to a new place kind of doesn't let you do things you did before. For example caring for your blog...
I didn't stop making music, no.
I feel like making more music than ever. And that's awesome!
My latest thing to present to you: THE CABINET!
Solid rock and roaring guitars with female rock singer. Better check it out!

Big sky
It's almost been years since I posted anything. So I'm back with a new member of my pedalboard. My wife finally allowed me to buy the Big Sky of Strymon. Amazing reverb, unbelievable sounds, just awesome.

Recording with Timo Schmidgall and Andrew Smith
Somehow, certain things in life can happen very unexpected. My buddy Timo and me were just recording some of Timos idea, for fun. The result was pretty cool. We recorded his song "At The Cross", a very warm and folky worship song. I added the electric and some voice harmonies.
This summer, Timos friend Andrew Smith from Canada came to tour Europe. And somehow he liked what we did. So back in Canada, he added his awesome voice, a few keys and a lovely banjo to what we recorded. So, kind of a funny cooperation between Germany and Canada. Check it out!

Every little step counts... even the last one!!
As you might already have noticed, I added some electrics and vocals to thePlessing's upcoming debut EP called "Every little step counts". The last step in producing this EP was the mastering.
So, music is done, finally!!! Pretty popular mastering engineer Tom Krüger did a pretty good job. The songs sound really like... like... BAAAMMM! I'm so stoked for your opinions in about december.

Introducing someone thinking a lot
Carsten's a friend of mine. And he's thinking a lot. Maybe that's why we kind of found each other. In his blog he's writing about different theological and philosophical topics. Whenever I find some time to read it's really inspiring me. Maybe you get inspired too, as long as you know german.

thePlessing shares snippet
This year I recorded the electric and some vox harmonies in the studio for my friend thePlessing. Now, the first official hearable snippet is online. Man, this sounds awesome! Check it out and show some love to my friend.
By the way, I played my Strat through the AC30 with a humming trem and reverb. That's it. Just crunchy guitar chords. At the end of the song I'm playing a fuzz lick using a Rat - thanks to Greg Davis for lending this great pedal.

modern sounds in old churches
Last weekend I had so much fun playing with All Around at the old church of Auhausen. What a great moment to feel the sounds flying around your ears. The sound was a bit like in a cave, very special but so atmospheric.

All around Bavaria
What's next to come? I'm pretty happy to play with my friends of All Around on sunday again. We are stoked to play at the Christus-Treff youth service in Auhausen, Bavaria. What I love about the church, that it gathers Christians of different denominations. I'm looking forward to see my lutheran brothers and sisters again! God is awesome. Peace.

Last takes
We're done. Last weekend we finished the recordings for thePlessing at Janz Team Studios. We had a blessed time and worked about 15 hours each day. For me, making music and recording stuff is a beautiful work. I enjoyed it so much! Thanks especially to awesome producer Greg Davis who did a great job! You're the man.
Be stoked for what is to come. We kind of reinvented the songs. This fall thePlessing will release a pretty cool Debut EP! Here are some pics of our time in the studio. More to come.

First takes
This weekend we recorded the first rough tracks for thePlessing in Schallwerkstadt studio. Great time, great licks and great sound! So much looking forward to record the next few songs.
The setlist of the upcoming EP by thePlessing will probably be "Trees", "I know", "Every little step counts", "Thank you" and "Slow down". The first three are done now! Stoked for the rest.
This is the crew by the way. Next to thePlessing stands producer Greg Davis. Such an awesome guy!

Visiting studio and preparing for recording
As you might already know, one of the music work I do is to play the electric for my friend thePlessing. So, we played a small tour at the end of '13 and now we are getting prepared to record an EP in studio. thePlessing picked a small studio in Black Forest called Schallwerkstadt.
Recording sessions start 2nd of may. But today we already visited the place where we plug in our guitars and drums to get things on tape.
